Meisenbach - a shortening of this name is still contained in the small stream Meisa) is the district town of the district of the same name in the Free State of Saxony, has just under 30,000 inhabitants and has the status of a large district town.The town of Meissen is internationally famous for the production of Meissen porcelain, the first porcelain in Europe since 1708. 25 km north-west of Dresden, approx. 100 km east of Leipzig and approx. 40 km north-east of Freiberg, Meissen lies at the end of the Elbe basin on the Elbe and its tributary, the Triebisch. Coswig and Radebeul lie to the east of Meißen. The lowest point of the town is the mean water level of the Elbe at 95 m above sea level. The Meissen highlands lie to the south of Meissen and the Lommatzscher Pflege to the north of the town.

You start with a visit to the monastery church in Grimma. A visit to the ruins of Nimbschen Monastery is then on the agenda. Then a short city tour through the oldest Saxon residential town of Meissen.
