description: "Here, in the Burgstein area, lies the hidden, mystical, and also romantic Vogtland. One can wonderfully float above everyday life when the hiker's view opens to the wide, gently curved, inwardly calm landscape. Here, the hiker listens to the babbling of the Kemnitz stream and the chirping of the birds. The educational trail with numerous informative panels passes idyllic places such as the Kienmühle on the Kemnitz stream, the historic inn Ruderitz, or the Hermann Vogel House. The late Romantic painter with a great sense for nature is impressively relevant to this day. Vogel became known as one of the most important Vogtland artists of the 19th century, especially for his enchanting illustrations in fairy tale books, such as those of the Brothers Grimm. These figures bring Hermann Vogel's fairy tale world to life on the Burgstein educational trail. For families, it is exciting to experience how the illustrations integrate into the landscape, so the recurring question “When will we finally be there?” does not even arise. The highlight of the route is undoubtedly the two late medieval church ruins at Burgstein."
