Directions

The hike starts at the parking lot in front of the Umgebindehaus Park in Cunewalde and passes the community citizen center along Peterdörfelstraße (access path) to the Cunewalde circular hiking route. On the circular route (green dot with C), walk to the right to the Mordteich, then turn left following signs for the Upper Lusatian mountain trail to the southern ridge trail (blue stripe). To the right continues the Upper Lusatian mountain trail past the hiking parking lot near Erntekranzbaude (location info board) to the Kälbersteine with stone cliffs (487 m). After signing the guestbook, the tour continues to Crostau to the village church with the sonorous Silbermann organ. Now walk towards Carlsberg over the Horke with its wonderful view to Halbendorf to the Oberlausitz railway bike path. From there, you reach the former Köblitz station. On the Oberlausitz railway bike path, 100 m after the Köblitz station, turn left onto the Cunewalde circular hiking route (green dot with C). Walk below the Herrnsberg past Russenstein to Schönberg to the sports field. At the large oak, turn right back to Cunewalde to the church.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Before starting the hike, you should definitely visit Germany's largest village church, a place of faith on the tourist route "Via Sacra," in Cunewalde. Also a "must," right next to the church, is the Umgebindehaus Park with its unique folk architecture of Upper Lusatia at a scale of 1:5.

In Crostau, the village church with its sonorous Silbermann organ is worth a visit.
