Directions

This peaceful hike is highly recommended when there’s snow on the ground or on those first sunny spring days.

From the parking lot at the “Marie Louise Stolln” visitor mine, head southwest across the intersection. On the right side of the park, a footpath leads along to Kirchberg. As the name suggests, the Evangelical Lutheran Berggießhübel Mountain Church is located here. Shortly afterward, the path leads through the residential area and across the state highway toward the southeast. Signs for the “Eulensteine” and “Eibischsteine” via the “Grüner Punkt” serve as a guide. Unfortunately, logging operations have left clear traces along this stretch of the trail, which otherwise passes through a beautiful forest. Here lie large stones, overgrown with moss, that look as if they had fallen out of a giant’s pocket. After all, there’s nothing around to suggest the presence of larger rocks. It’s therefore a beautiful spot, though one that has unfortunately suffered greatly from recent forestry work.

Shortly before Bahra, there’s a small, private game reserve on the edge of the forest and in a beautiful clearing. The detour to Bahra takes you past single-family homes. Here, it’s important to always keep to the right—essentially choosing the right path at every fork.

Once you reach the historic Eisenstraße, the path continues straight ahead. When spring first arrives here, you can hear the birds chirping and see the light shining through the forest. In Berggießhübel, you’ll need to walk a short distance along the “S173” before turning left onto a small access path leading to the street “Am Kaffeeberg.”
