description: "Almost 90 kilometers of the United Mulde flow right through the Leipzig region. The paddling route from Wurzen to Eilenburg is about 20 km long without the Eilenburg Millrace. Before the Collauer Weir, also called Bobritzer Dam, the paddler can turn left into the Eilenburg Millrace and experience an exciting often bizarre river landscape on about 8 to 9 km. Sometimes fallen trees block the passage for inflatable boats! Here you have to paddle carefully and look for a passage, which sometimes means you have to lie down flat in the inflatable boat or canoe! In the Millrace the Eilenburg Rowing Club offers a rest or exit possibility. In addition, the Millrace divides in the urban area of Eilenburg, where the paddler must keep to the right! Eventually, the Millrace flows back into the Mulde; here you must paddle about 200 m upstream to the landing stage on the right."

The United Mulde flows through the Leipzig region, past beautiful idyllic floodplain landscapes, through villages and historically significant towns such as Wurzen and Eilenburg.

Almost 90 kilometers of the United Mulde flow right through the Leipzig region.

Eventually, the Millrace flows back into the Mulde; here you must paddle about 200 m upstream to the landing stage on the right.

Directions

**Wurzen - Eilenburg**

- Distance: 20 km
- Duration: 5 to 6 hours
- Carrying over: 1× at Wurzen entry point for variant 1

**Start:** Wurzen, entry below the weir, right bank

- after about 1 km rapids, then partly gravel banks (avoid stepping/landing, observe nature conservation) and choppy sections
- follow the river course and pass the marked pedestrian bridge at Canitz
- Continue to Kollauer Weir, **from here 2 route variants:**

**Variant 1:** Continue on the Mulde

- Inclined weir not passable, carrying over required (recommended exit on right bank, rest possibility)
- Continue to railway bridge: Caution hazard! Bridge wave after inspection, if necessary pass in the middle, otherwise rather carry over; caution at high water!
- follow river course to Eilenburg urban area

**Variant 2:** Eilenburg Millrace (centuries-old artificially created canal approx. 10 km long)

- turn left into Millrace before weir edge (caution hazard! Strong current, partly choppy and tree obstacles; behave calmly, very sensitive natural area)
- after about 500 m at the distinctive blue Millrace arch bridge, landing possible on right bank (premises of Eilenburg Rowing Club, overnight stay possible after prior arrangement)
- Continue on the Millrace (keep right after road bridge) to the confluence with the Mulde, beginning of nature reserve! For exiting, keep right and paddle about 200 m back upstream on the Mulde to the landing stage (west bank)

**Goal:** Eilenburg, exit point below Ziegelstraße road bridge, left bank
