It's true, there are regions that are better known and their long-distance hiking trails too. But that is precisely what makes the Kammweg so attractive. The whisper of fir trees instead of city noise, badgers instead of Dax and small villages instead of tourist hotspots.

Good luck! The 288-kilometre ridge trail crosses the Ore Mountains and Vogtland. Whether you want to hike the trail in one go or just for a few days - the Kammweg is an all-rounder!

The Kammweg gave us the chance to experience what we do. We were able to calm down and find our own rhythm in a modern age of speed. And the idea that faster is not necessarily better is slowly taking hold. Sabine M. and Joachim L.

Safety guidelines

The ridge trail season runs from May to October. This is because the trail is not cleared of snow in winter, weather conditions can cause many icy patches to lead to the risk of falling, some sections become cross-country ski trails and the trail crosses ski slopes. In addition, more tree felling work is carried out in the forest during the cold season, meaning that sections of the trail are temporarily closed. From spring onwards, the Kammweg sponsors will once again take care of the complete signposting.

From May onwards, you will find up-to-date information online about the affected sections that are being rerouted for each stage. We ask for your understanding and, for your own safety, please follow the instructions on site.
