Directions

Hartmannsdorf is fabulous. The starting point is the former head forester's office in Hartmannsdorf. From there, the trail leads uphill via the Sandleite on the slopes of the Rödel valley towards Hirtsberg. At the edge of the forest, the trail leads along the edge of the Jahnsgrün stream into a beech grove. There you will find the Heilige Born - a holy well - which is well signposted. The former Jahnsgrün chapel, which was razed to the ground by the Hussites, is said to have been located nearby, as was the entire former village of Jahnsgrün. It is said that a wild boar dug up the old bell. At the end of the beech forest, a hiker's hut offers shelter from bad weather. The trail then continues past the orchard meadow through Jahnsgrün. After the farm estates and the beautiful forests, the trail passes Wettiner Platz with the memorial stone commemorating the anniversary of the Wettin dynasty. Now we walk into the forest. There we pass the Waldschänke with wonderful views of Lindenau and the mountain town of Schneeberg with St. Wolfgang. We enter the forest again and walk towards the end of the tour in the direction of Hirtsberg past the former military training area of the NVA and later the Bundeswehr. Once we arrive back at the old Oberförsterei, we can stop off at the Hotel and Pension Flechsig.
