The romantic landscape around the small town of Wolkenstein contains impressive evidence of various mining eras. From the castle, the tour leads you through a rocky gorge into the deep river valley. A shady forest path takes you to heights with great views. Piles of waste rock visible as wooded islands in fields and meadows show the underground course of old mines. In the former Himmelreich mine area, you will be impressed by a shaft built in arches. Thermal water enriched with minerals finds its way, due to a special geological structure, to emerge as a spring in today's spa town of Warmbad. In the Silber-Therme Warmbad and in the castle museum you will come across a magnificent mineral, the amethyst.
