Directions

From the station and parking lot (at the valley station of the cable railway) you walk the street briefly uphill, under the railway bridge and over the Zschopau bridge.

After the Zschopau bridge Erdmannsdorf, opposite the former country inn Kadow, turn left following the signs. Then you walk along the floodplain trail, a protected avenue, along the Zschopau river upstream towards Kunnersdorf. (On this section you can listen to Ore Mountain legends via smartphone or tablet.) Past the trout breeding facility, continue to the spinning mill and then turn left over the bridge crossing the Zschopau. Before the railway tracks, turn right and follow the path initially under the railway embankment. Then follow the signs to the left, under the railway embankment, and immediately right again, now above the railway tracks, always straight ahead towards Kunnersdorf. You pass two large open areas/meadows and partly have a nice view of Augustusburg Castle. This section of the path is also marked as a cycle path. Following the signs, the path goes under the railway line and passes a covered picnic spot with a small playground. A lovely stop for families. The path leads past a large meadow. Here the large and small circular routes temporarily merge. Follow the signs over the wooden plank bridge in Kunnersdorf and then turn right onto the valley road and through the village to the B 180. Here the large circular route turns left towards Gornau into Dittmannsdorfer Street. The small circular route continues straight on the B 180 towards Erdmannsdorf until the exit of Kunnersdorf and then turns left into a side path at the last houses. (Pay attention to signs.) After about 80 m, the Kleinolbersdorfer Street is reached.

Follow Kleinolbersdorfer Street to the village exit and just before the textile factory, turn left into a path according to the signs. The path leads behind the factory and then along a large meadow past the water wheel. Follow the grass path straight ahead until you come to a forest junction, which also leads the large Erdmannsdorf circular route.

Following the signs, go straight/slightly right downhill. After crossing the Schwarzbach, Kleinolbersdorfer Street, and the shaping area/parking lot (keep slightly right here and really cross the square), the ascent begins on forest paths through the Black Forest towards Erdmannsdorf. (Always follow the signs.)

You reach Chemnitzer Street, cross it and follow the signs to the left. After approx. 50 m along the street, the path turns right and leads along the forest edge.

From here, there is a very nice view of Augustusburg and also of Erdmannsdorf and the surrounding area.

The small circular route then turns right onto the asphalted cycle path to the Panorama Mushroom. This is a great spot for a picnic with a wonderful view! Continue along the path and reach the Landhotel Puschke (possibility to stop for a meal). There, the small Erdmannsdorf circular route merges into Chemnitzer Street, which you follow downstream. At the intersection, turn right into Rathausstraße (B 180). After the doctor's office/before the sports field (on the left side of the street), turn left into a small path. You pass a small playground and reach Rittergasse. Here, follow the signs to the right and immediately left again. (Note: If you walk a few meters uphill further on Rittergasse, you reach the Blockhouse Café – a nice place to stop.) The path continues over Steingasse and merges again into Chemnitzer Street at an office and commercial building where you turn right. The starting point Zschopau bridge is reached.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Right at the beginning of the route along the floodplain trail is the Erdmannsdorf legend trail. Here you can listen to old legends from the Ore Mountains with the help of your smartphone by holding it against stones and tree stumps where they are attached.
