The former millstone quarries are worth a visit, and the Carolafels offers a wonderful view of the town and surroundings. The Jonsdorf organ rocks are a special rarity: frittered sandstone that crystallized like basalt due to contact with lava. The Nonnenfels with its bizarre shapes must of course not be missed on the route. The diversity of the sandstone is due to the available (angular) or absent (round shapes) contact with lava, which caused metamorphoses. A highlight - literally - is the Lausche. At 793 meters, the Lausche is the highest peak of Upper Lusatia - the queen of Upper Lusatia. Always descending through beautiful forest and over meadows, we eventually reach the lovely village of Großschönau."

Directions

Starting with small village streets, then steep paths with steps up and down. Bumpy but beautiful mountain paths. A via ferrata to the Nonnenfelsen would even be possible. After descending from the Nonne, roughly gravelled path to Waltersdorf. Steep ascent and descent to Lausche. Further pleasant forest paths, increasingly asphalted towards Großschönau.
