This winter will be absolutely stunning! Starting November 19, 2026, the Christmas Garden Dresden will open its doors for its seventh season at Pillnitz Palace & Park, welcoming visitors with around 30 colorful, sparkling, and atmospheric installations along the artfully designed new circular path.

This year’s Christmas Garden Dresden shines with festive opulence and fairy-tale magic. With more light displays than ever before and elaborately arranged colorful lighting installations, the Christmas Garden Dresden appears like a fantastic Christmas wonderland set within one of Germany’s most beautiful palace complexes. The newly designed circular path captivates guests with a variety of state-of-the-art lighting techniques that offer visual surprises and invite visitors to pause and reflect. With warm light and shimmering colors, the many attractions and lovingly arranged individual elements give visitors an extra dose of happiness and well-being during the dark winter months.
The Christmas Garden Dresden not only has plenty of new features in store for the public but, by popular demand, also offers a reunion with beloved classics from past years as part of the “Best-of” selection.

The heart of the palace park, the Pillnitz Pleasure Garden, is once again the highlight of the Dresden Christmas Garden this season. For the first time, the Pleasure Garden is presented as a total work of art, and the palace facades, the contours of the ornamental flower beds, the fountains, the trees, and four large colorful stars come together under the title “Lustgarten im Lichterglanz” (Pleasure Garden in a Glittering Display of Lights) to form a sophisticated choreography set to an exclusively composed, Baroque-inspired musical piece by Burkhard Fincke. The interplay of complex lighting effects and colors harmonizes perfectly with the majestic splendor of this unique palace complex. The beloved “Cathedral of Light” shines majestically and, with thousands of golden points of light in the 24-meter-long glittering tunnel, invites visitors to capture the most beautiful photo moments for the first time since 2019.

Romantic motifs are also well represented at the Christmas Garden Dresden, and so several areas of the palace park are adorned with charming light art installations that provide the perfect backdrop for marriage proposals. The water features offer a breathtaking sight: a water installation on the pond in the English Garden, choreographed in sync with music, where the water seems to dance, framed by the ambiance of the illuminated English Pavilion.

Behind a small, sparkling bridge, visitors reach the Fairy Realm, where elfin creatures appear among the trees and a poetic voice, accompanied by music, tells tales of magical worlds. Afterward, next to the Orangery, Christmas treats and mulled wine invite visitors to take a tasty break before the next highlight: the Christmas story artfully projected onto the Palm House.

As another classic, the Christmas Garden Dresden is once again featuring the popular carillon this year—glowing chains of lights programmed to music—where visitors can take the most atmospheric selfies. The magnificent sea of lights is also back this year, presenting a new artistic enhancement with five interconnected light islands spanning 2,250 square meters, featuring more than 45,000 light points, and the dynamically illuminated façade of the Bergpalais, which can be admired particularly well from a specially set-up photo platform.

In the Winter Village near the Alte Wache, guests of all ages can finally glide joyfully across the ice rink again for the first time since 2019 and round off their visit with a glass of punch or some sweet crêpes.

The stroll along the approximately two-kilometer-long loop trail of the Christmas Garden Dresden, which delights all the senses, has become an indispensable pre-Christmas tradition for many guests from Dresden and the surrounding region. Immersing yourself in the overwhelming sea of lights at the Christmas Garden Dresden —whether with family or friends—is not only a unique experience but also a precious moment of respite amid the general pre-Christmas hustle and bustle. When the sparkling, glittering world of the Christmas Garden Dresden comes to life after dark, the historic setting of Pillnitz Palace and Park takes on the air of a romantic winter oasis, where there will once again be plenty for young and old alike to discover.

From November 19, 2026, through January 10, 2026 , the Christmas Garden Dresden—organized by Christmas Garden Deutschland GmbH —invites visitors to marvel and enjoy the open-air festivities almost every day.
