Exhibition: "A Closer Look: Pinocchio's Adventures on the Puppet Stage"
To mark the 200th anniversary of his creator’s birth, the Puppet Theater Collection is exhibiting puppets and other items related to Pinocchio, the naive and good-natured—but also reckless—hero.
Originally, the “wooden rascal” Pinocchio was supposed to end up on the gallows. But in 1881, readers of the magazine “Giornale per i bambini” complained about this ending. The author, Carlo Collodi, had to continue the story of Pinocchio, and thus a worldwide literary success was born.
