Sales fair for international arts and crafts and design from unique pieces to small series
The GRASSIMESSE Leipzig, one of Europe’s leading platforms for applied art and design, invites visitors to a unique experience once again in 2026. From October 23 to 25, 2026, 140 artists and designers from Europe and Asia will present their latest works: Internationally sought-after jewelry and ceramics artists will be featured alongside young glass, metal, and furniture designers, as well as successful fashion, shoe, and hat designers. In addition, high-quality and surprising works made of metal and paper will be on display.

The Grassimesse, as a platform for exquisite craftsmanship and original product design, has a long tradition dating back to 1920. Here, the latest trends in good design have been—and continue to be—presented. The three-day Grassimesse is all about aesthetics, exceptional craftsmanship, functionality, and “immersing” oneself in good design. High-quality one-of-a-kind pieces and small-batch collections are sold here; at this inspiring trade show, visitors engage in conversation with the creators and experience an immense variety of applied art. For design fans, art enthusiasts, and anyone interested in design, the Grassimesse is a highlight on the exhibition calendar.

The Grassimesse invites visitors to browse, learn, and shop, showcasing the latest in jewelry and accessories, ceramics and porcelain, fashion and textiles, furniture, wood, metal, glass, and paper. From a pool of more than 290 artists and designers worldwide, a jury of experts selected approximately 140 participants for the fall event in early summer, who will be featured at 75 exhibition booths. This year, they hail from eleven countries in Europe and Asia. Eight Grassiprizes will be awarded, totaling 11,000 euros, along with prizes in kind and acquisitions for the museum.

A total of 82 exhibition booths are set up in large exhibition halls, the Art Deco Pfeilerhalle, and directly within the permanent exhibition. This immediate spatial proximity of the contemporary exhibits to the cultural-historical masterpieces in the collections is unique for a sales fair. Six additional booths are located in the foyer—here, universities present current semester projects.
At the GRASSIMESSE, a total of eight GRASSIPREISE, worth a combined total of 15,000 EURO, will be awarded for outstanding work in the fields of applied art and product design.

New to the GRASSIMESSE 2026 is the “Design Newcomer” category. The internationally active company smow, which has been a sponsor of the Grassi Design Prize for several years now, is thus providing another important impetus. Through its involvement at the GRASSIMESSE, smow aims in particular to promote young talent in furniture design and make it easier for them to enter the premium furniture market.
