The PURPLE PATH Weekend Combines Contemporary Art and Regional Festival Culture

The PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail is one of the major, lasting projects of Chemnitz 2025, European Capital of Culture, and connects Chemnitz, Central Saxony, the Ore Mountains, and the Zwickau region. From September 11 to 13, this connection comes to life with the PURPLE PATH Weekend: More than 100 events celebrate contemporary art as well as regional culture and stories—with music and festivals, guided tours and discussions, workshops, and public art installations.

A special highlight is *Tiefenzeit* by Philipp Frank. The light artist transforms the rock formation at Geyersche Binge into a walk-through resonance space of light and sound. The installation can be experienced exclusively during the PURPLE PATH weekend. In addition, numerous events invite visitors to rediscover the PURPLE PATH artworks alongside regional crafts, music, history, and culture.
