Umgebinde 1657 is a rustic half-timbered house on a sunny mountainside in the spa town of Bad Schandau — just a few meters from the Elbe and with a breathtaking view of the surrounding forests and rocks. A magical place in Saxon Switzerland for unforgettable moments with friends and family: hiking, discovering, cooking, reading, spending time together.
Rustic, cozy, and comfortable. Our cultural monument offers two holiday apartments and more than 220 sqm of space, tranquility, and coziness for up to 12 people. Heating is supported by geothermal energy from over 100 meters deep, the walls are plastered with clay, and solar power from the roof supplements the electricity supply.
In the large kitchen, chop veggies, sweat in the sauna, lounge on the oven bench and gaze into the fire, look into the forests from the warm hot tub, finally have a good sleep in our incredibly cozy beds, and dream of the next hiking tour.
Located centrally but quietly, you can reach us by train, bike, or boat, and not only recharge your batteries with us but also gladly charge those of your electric cars. ;)

- We have everything ready for you: bed linen, towels (regular towel, bath towel, sauna towel), firewood, and consumables for the kitchen (dish towels, dishwasher tabs, spices, soap, oil). Sauna use, cleaning, electricity, and heating are also included. We only charge additionally for the guest card for the municipality, and if you would like the hot tub heated, we charge 35 EUR for electricity and our diligent caretaker.
Our timber-framed pearl is located in Bad Schandau (Krippen), the entrance to the Saxon Switzerland National Park, approx. 40 km south-east of Dresden. Bad Schandau is a state-recognised Kneipp spa, a Mecca for hiking and wellness enthusiasts and, since the beginning of tourism, THE fashionable summer resort in Saxon Switzerland.
Arrival by paddle steamer (Elbkai Bad Schandau), bicycle (Elbradweg Abzweick Krippen), train (National Park railway station Bad Schandau or Krippen), car, bus (Alte Schule bus stop) or even leisurely on foot with a rucksack on your back. It's easy to get to Krippen, but leaving this little paradise on the Elbe will be difficult.
Check-in is available contactless starting 4 p.m. via a key safe or, if you wish, in person with a cool welcome drink directly out of the fresh cold spring in front of the house. Contact person
