Martin Luther was the defining personality of the Reformation era. His temporary visits to what is now the trading city of Leipzig led to the success of the Reformation in the 16th century.
Numerous city tours, museum visits and church tours provide a comprehensive overview of the time and the work during the Reformation period.

Follow in the footsteps of Lucas Cranach and Martin Luther and discover valuable treasures in Leipzig, Torgau and Schneeberg, among other places.

Your 4-day trip to Saxony will give you a first-hand impression of this formative personality of the Reformation period and take you on a journey through the most important cities that made this period so unique to this day.
First, you will be guided through the city of Torgau, the city that Luther is known to have visited 40 times. You will then visit the monastery church in the town of Grimma, where Paul Gerhardt worked. You will also explore the oldest Saxon residential town of Meissen. You will learn about the history of the trading city of Leipzig and immerse yourself in its multifaceted cultural and musical history. Thanks to the special tips from your travel guide, nothing stands in the way of a shopping spree through Leipzig's beautiful city centre. In Schneeberg, you will then visit St Wolfgang's Church with the Cranach Altarpiece.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival and city tour of Torgau
Today you arrive in Torgau. Look forward to a guided tour of the exhibition at Hartenfels Castle.

Day 2 - Excursion to Grimma and Meissen
You start with a visit to the monastery church in Grimma. A visit to the ruins of Nimbschen Monastery is then on the agenda. Then a short city tour through the oldest Saxon residential town of Meissen.

Today you will finally see more of the city on a city tour of Leipzig. Of course, a visit to St. Thomas Church is a must.
