Insight "behind the scenes" of stone mining at Rochlitzer Berg - A very special offer is provided by Rochlitzer Porphyr GmbH for the "Day of Geotopes": Plant manager Frank Weidt personally guides participants through the "Schillingbruch" - the only still active quarry at Rochlitzer Berg. Visitors can observe the traces of mining activities from an unusual perspective and learn firsthand facts about mining methods, further processing, and the future prospects of Rochlitzer Porphyr tuff. Information on the peculiarities of formation and geological conditions is also included. At certain locations, the quarry reveals secrets from long-past times.
