The village museum in Bernsdorf in the village of Zeißholz is one of the oldest three-sided farmsteads in Upper Lusatia. The farmstead has been documented since 1401 and was rebuilt again and again after fires; the core of the original log construction is recognizable.
The ensemble of buildings and museum has been a listed building since 1974 and everything from local farming life and coal mining has been brought together.
The "Für Zeißholz" association has set itself the task of preserving and representing this extraordinary collection of exhibits.
The outdoor area contains machine parts from the former Zeißholz briquette factory as well as agricultural and household equipment.
Inside, you will find everything you need to know about Sorbian customs.
