The Götze Cooperage combines traditional craftsmanship with viticulture. The family-run business, which has been practicing the craft of cooperage for seven generations, includes a small vineyard on the steep “Pillnitzer Königlicher Weinberg” slope. On approximately 0.3 hectares, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Müller-Thurgau ripen here. The wines are vinified with great care and, in some cases, aged in decades-old wooden barrels made from Saxon oak that the company crafted itself. A vineyard tour with tasting offers insights into Dresden’s winegrowing tradition.
In the workshop, high-quality wooden barrels, wooden bathtubs, planters, and vats are crafted. Visitors can gain insights into the now-rare craft of cooperage during a guided tour (by appointment only). The tour concludes on a high note with a wine tasting featuring wines pressed on-site from the Pillnitz Royal Vineyard.
