Lessing-Museum Kamenz
Goes without saying that a dignified monument is due to a popular literary man. And can you picture a better place for this than his home town? Kamenz, the city of birth of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing has dedicated a whole museum to the master of poetry. An exhibition area of 250 square meters shows museal depictions of Lessing´s lifework and provide an insight into his personality, which was once described as “highest mind” by Goethe. The Lessing museum comes along with a historical site, namely the Haus am Anger 2, which documents the effortful erection of the museum. In addition to that, the museum attracts a large audience by organizing readings, a poet´s newcomer stage and writing competitions.
