Opera Leipzig

The Leipzig Opera - consisting of opera, musical comedies and the Leipzig ballet - is the third oldest bourgeois music theatre stage in  Europe. With chief stage director Peter Konwitschny, chief musical
director Ulf Schirmer, the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig as constant opera orchestra, an award winning choir and the Leipzig ballet the Leipzig Opera confirms its international reputation. Living music theatre with works from baroque to the present in stimulating productions by Peter Konwitschny, Dietrich Hilsdorf, Tatjana Gürbaca and  others is the trademark of the Leipzig Opera. The current building of the opera house is among the most impressive theatre buildings of the sixties.
