Sean Scully - Coinstack 2

  • Gallery

As you approach the late Gothic St. Wolfgang's Church in Schneeberg, also known as the "Miner's Cathedral", a pile of coins seems to grow out of the stone-grey pavement.

The internationally renowned artist Sean Scully has transformed his childhood memories of his father's stacks of coins into the impressive 2.40-metre-high sculpture "Coin Stack 2". At its location in Schneeberg, the sculpture also refers to the important labor disputes of the Schneeberg miners in 1496 and 1498.
