Stadtmuseum Schloss Hoyerswerda – Municipal Museum at Hoyerswerda Castle
Built in 1272 as a moated castle, it is the oldest building in the city and the ideal home for museum finds. On two floors, the town museum presents its permanent exhibition with exhibits from Hoyerswerda's prehistoric, early, middle and modern periods. A tour provides in-depth insights into the various eras and brings the city's eventful history back to life. The town museum rounds off its multifaceted concept with changing special exhibitions and special event projects.
The Hoyerswerda Castle and City Museum was awarded the special prize of the Saxon Museum Prize 2025 for its creative combination of museum and zoo.
