Vogtland Philharmonie
The Vogtland Philharmonic is a supra-regional orchestra with a uniquely diverse spectrum: classical symphony concerts and serenades, festive galas, stylish concerts in historical costumes, famous film soundtracks with a large screen and state-of-the-art cross-over productions such as Classics under the stars, Philharmonic Rock, ABBA Tribute in SYMPHONY or Queen Classic Night fill small concert halls as well as huge festival grounds. To promote young musical talent, the orchestra has also developed successful projects such as the educational concert series Kids meet Classic.
As a musical ambassador, the orchestra performs in concert halls in the region and in music centers in almost all European countries, such as the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Vienna or the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. It has made several guest appearances in Turkey, China and the USA and is a proven partner at the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition, the Klingenthal International Accordion Competition and the Greiz Stavenhagen Competition. In 1992, the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra merged with the Greiz State Symphony Orchestra and the Reichenbach State Vogtland Orchestra to form an indispensable cultural institution. Economically supported by the Free States of Thuringia and Saxony, the Greiz and Vogtland districts and the towns of Greiz and Reichenbach, it continues the orchestral tradition of over 160 years in the Vogtland region at the highest level of quality and has been inspiring audiences with its innovative spirit and inventiveness ever since.
