Wilhelm Mundt - Trashstone

An impressive "Trashstone" by sculptor Wilhelm Mundt stands on Lomonossowplatz in Freiberg. Mundt teaches at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. The gleaming aluminium sculpture, part of a series, is reminiscent of the silver found in the region and symbolizes the mining industry in the city of Freiberg. Its hermetic inner world, filled with production residues, remains hidden and encourages reflection. In this way, the sculpture combines art with the historical significance of silver mining in Freiberg.
