The Zittauer Gebirge Nature Park Visitor Center has been open since the fall of 2011. It is located directly across from the church in the historic “Niederkretscham” in the resort town of Waltersdorf. A varied and interactive exhibition not only illustrates the origins, history, and ecosystem of Germany’s 100th nature park but also actively invites both adults and children to embark on an “indoor” discovery tour of the nature park. Products from Upper Lusatia, information, and a wide variety of interesting books and calendars are available at the tourist information office. Delicious homemade cakes, served with aromatic coffee or tea, are available at the coffee roastery, which is also located in the building. On the upper floor of the building, there is a small event room that accommodates up to 40 people and a large hall that can be rented for private celebrations.

Directions & Parking facilities
- Anreise
Take Exit Bautzen Ost on the BAB 4 and continue on the B 6 toward Löbau. From there, continue on the S 148 to Neugersdorf, passing through Neueibau, Leutersdorf, and Spitzkunnersdorf on the way to Großschönau. From Görlitz, take the B 99 to Zittau and from there continue directly to Großschönau.
Parken
There are 8 short-term parking spaces and 2 accessible parking spaces right in front of the nature park visitor center. For a slightly longer stay, we recommend the 30 free parking spaces located about 50 meters above the nature park visitor center.
Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
Whether you’re traveling by bus, train, or car, you’ll find the right route to Großschönau here. Coming from Dresden, the RE 2 line will take you to Zittau Central Station. Travelers from Berlin, Cottbus, Görlitz, or Polish towns should take the RB65 regional train. From Zittau, the L7 line—coming from Liberec, Czech Republic—runs to Großschönau.
