Directions
- From Altenberg, the route follows Dippoldiswalder Straße and Neustadtstraße toward Geisingberg. Passing the Altenberger Pinge and the mountain meadows, you’ll reach the 824-meter-high summit. Next to the mountain hut, you’ll find the Louisenturm, which offers a view of the Altenberg vacation region. The trail then descends steeply toward Geising. Passing historic streets and the Hüttenteich natural swimming area, you’ll hike up to the Kohlhaukuppe (786 m)—known as the “Garlic Hill” because of the delicacies served at the mountain hut. Along the German–Czech border (Summer Trail), you’ll walk toward Zinnwald-Georgenfeld and pass through the small mining village toward the “Lugsteine.” From there, Trail 30 leads you to the Kahleberg —at 905 m above sea level, the highest peak in the Eastern Ore Mountains. Here, too, you can stop for a break at the mountain hut. After a short break, the trail continues via the I-Flügel and the Alten Zaunhäuser Weg back to Altenberg.
