- Destination: Vogtland Lake
The Vogtland Lake is located in the middle of a 30 km² forest area. The lake was artificially created in 1934/35 for flood protection purposes and serves to store the water of the Roter Fluss spring system.
It is a very scenic lake. Commonly also called “Großer Moorteich,” various types of peat bogs here visibly point to the peat forest. The boggy catchment area is the reason for the very acidic water of the lake, which ultimately causes the absence of any fish population.
