The bright red Rochlitz porphyry is well known far beyond the region's borders. The adventure route Seelitz – On the Trail of the Porphyry shows stony contemporaries.

The Rochlitz porphyry was and is a supplier of millstones, murder and atonement crosses, post columns, signposts, boundary stones, window and door frames or bridges, of which many contemporaries can still be discovered today. The adventure route Seelitz runs over about 13 kilometers through the southern part of the municipality of Seelitz and the southwestern part of the large district town of Rochlitz.

The start and end point of the circular route is the mill square in Rochlitz. However, entry to the route is also possible at any other point. With its course through the idyllic landscape of the Rochlitz Mulde Valley, it combines architecture with the beauty of nature.

The start of the adventure route is the mill square in Rochlitz with the "Gerichtsschänke", the Villa Haberkorn, where until his death in 1948 Albrecht Haberkorn, the last quarry owner of the Haberkorn family, lived, and the castle mill, whose water power is now only used to generate electricity. Not far away are the oldest church in the Rochlitz area, St. Peter's Church, and Rochlitz Castle with its two massive towers, the Jupen. Below the castle, the Sörnzig path leads the Mulde upwards from Rochlitz to Sörnzig – past a picturesque villa, the "Old Lohmühle".

Next stops are the "Schlossaue" as well as the exhibition grounds of the Rabbit Breeders' Association Rochlitz and Surroundings e.V., the German Shepherd Association e.V., and the Endurance Sports Association Rochlitzer Berg e.V. To the right, the Stonemason's Path branches off from the adventure route. It is a connection to the Rudolf-Zimmermann-Weg, which leads to the Rochlitz Mountain with its porphyry educational trail. A little further straight ahead, the path leads through the Mordgrund, which got its name from the predators that are often called "Mard" in popular language. Just before the end of the forest, the Katzenstein can be seen on the right side, a solitary granite rock, not far from which is the so-called Trompetersprung. Here a fleeing rider is said to have once plunged into the depths.

In Sörnzig itself, the adventure route passes the country inn. Before the route continues over the striking Schaukelsteg Sörnzig, it is worth continuing the path a few meters straight ahead – to a beautiful farm with numerous porphyry details.

After Fischheim, where the path passes a farmhouse particularly richly decorated with porphyry, the adventure route leads through the idyllic landscape of the Rochlitz Mulde Valley, past numerous viewpoints that offer a magnificent view over the surrounding places, further to Beedeln. The almost completely preserved ring village was carefully restored. The entire village is now a listed monument and attracts special attention. Beedeln houses the oldest barn in Saxony. A draw is also the Hahn holiday farm.

North of Beedeln lies the small village of Seebitzschen, whose oldest building from 1576 is located on a four-sided farm, which is a special eye-catcher due to the farm entrance passing directly through another building.

Next is the small village of Zöllnitz, where a few years ago the Art Yard Zöllnitz, a place for all art lovers, was established. A bit off the adventure route lies the Zöllnitz mill, which is still in very good condition today.

Along the bank of the Erlbach, the route continues to Seelitz. An important village experience area is the riding stable of the Seelitz Riding and Driving Club e.V. The former pilgrimage church Seelitz, situated on a hill and visible from afar, is an impressive, late Gothic building and, alongside the Rochlitz St. Peter's Church, the oldest church in the Mittweida district. The historic parish complex is enriched by the parsonage, the substitute house, and the former church school. Furthermore, the Seelitz school is one of the oldest in the Rochlitz region. Historical records prove that an educational facility already existed in Seelitz in 1527.

Continuing again towards Rochlitz, the route passes Biesern, whose beautiful landscape with its hiking trails invites lengthy walks – for example past the former sand pit, where a lake with a water surface of 16 hectares has formed.

The final stop is the Rochlitz district of Zaßnitz with its suspension bridge. It offers a unique view of Rochlitz Castle and St. Peter's Church.
