A tour around Bautzen's beautiful reservoir with many surprising views, nature and places to stop for refreshments ...

From the tourist info at the main market, head towards the cathedral, Nicolaipforte and the Nicolaistufen, down left over the bridge at the Hammermühle (with mill shop). Continue along Seidauer Straße keeping right, then straight into Teichnitzer Straße in the Teichnitz district and further along Stauseestraße to Neumalsitz and at the reservoir further to Dahlowitz, where it goes right along the large dam. In Niedergurig, the Gottlobsberg offers views over the lake and you pass the Luther monument to Lubasberg and the impressive Spree outflow. Once at the beach promenade, it is worth staying for mini golf, the climbing park or stopping at the Ocean-Beach-Bar. On the way back to Bautzen, go past the campsite, passing through the Burk district to the pedestrian bridge at the Abgott, a pagan cult site, where flint was once extracted. After Oena, turn left back to Teichnitz, then after the district left into Mühlgäßchen, over the Spree and up Spreegasse to Schützenplatz, to enjoy views of the old town from there.
