On one side of the Schlema valley, toward the south, rises the local mountain, the Gleesberg.
With its 593 meters in height, it is the highest mountain in the immediate surroundings. On the summit, the Erzgebirgsverein Neustädtel built an observation tower and a mountain inn last century.

Directions
The start is at the Bad Schlema guest information. After a steep climb, you reach the Gleesberg spring. The cozy shaded spot invites you to linger. The hike then proceeds relatively flat and offers panoramic views over Aue. Many benches along the way invite to rest. Afterwards, it goes uphill again towards the Berggaststätte Gleesberg.
Here the mountain inn offers the possibility to refresh yourself. The observation tower "Köhlerturm" can be climbed and a view over the region from above compensates for the ascent. Through the forest, the path leads back to the Gleesberg spring. From there, you return along the same path towards the spa center and the guest information.
