This path is a classic circular route covering a length of 7.4 km, excluding the distance from the train station or parking garage to the Meilerhütte.
The route to the Meilerhütte and travel options as well as gastronomy can be found
under the description for „Around the Muldenquelle“.
There are 122 meters of elevation gain and loss to overcome on this hike.
The surface along the entire route is a sand-clay gravel layer, well compacted and almost 2 meters wide for most of the way. The route has been tested by wheelchair users.
The length of the hike, the elevation to be overcome, and the lack of mobile phone reception over almost the entire route require that this hike always be undertaken accompanied by helpers. At the parking lot at the Meilerhütte, we follow the signage towards Tannenhaus where we turn left.
Now comes a short section with a rough surface, which was not a problem during our test.
At the next fork, we follow the white-blue-white signs. Now the path goes over the sandy path and new forest path to the Muldenberg reservoir. Past the new forest pond, which situated in the middle of the forest invites you to linger. The last stretch to the reservoir may require assistance as it is relatively steep, about 10%.
After crossing the reservoir follows a long climb below 6%.
Here pushing assistance was necessary during testing. We follow the hay path to the railway crossing. At the railway crossing, we turn left. This is essential because otherwise, obstacles would be encountered further on that cannot be overcome by wheelchair users. We follow the path to Schöneck. After passing the spruces damaged by snow break and taking on strange shapes, we meet the ridge trail again and follow it back to the Meilerhütte.
