Route description:

The "Green Reiterlein" bike route is the easiest of the Reiterlein bike tours. It mostly leads along paths away from public roads and is therefore particularly suitable for families. The starting point is Gessingplatz, but the start can be varied arbitrarily. Via Blumenau, Kleinneuschönberg - past the "Old School", today's youth center Kleinneuschönberg, the tour leads to Hallbach and Hutha. From this height, you have a wonderful view of Olbernhau and the Flöhatal. The route continues to Pfaffroda, past the Bierwies pond and the castle with park and courtyard pond, straight to Schönfeld, where it then goes back to Olbernhau along the old post road. The tour partner for this round is the Hotel Saigerhütte Olbernhau-Grünthal.

Safety guidelines

Please pay attention to the following rules in the forest

  • Anyone who observes the fair play rules "forest and bike" ensures that everyone can enjoy the forest and is always a welcome forest visitor to us.
  • Stay on the paths and make sure nature does not get run over!
  • Leave the forest in time at dusk to avoid disturbing the animals during their feeding.
  • Leave no traces. Do not brake with locking wheels. Not every path can withstand every braking maneuver, and each can otherwise be encouraged on our paths. Please note that surfaces made of grit lead to longer braking distances on forest paths.
  • Drive carefully because forest paths are private forestry operation paths! Forest paths always have several functions. In addition to recreation, they are particularly used for forestry operations. All forest wood is transported over these transport routes to public roads. Therefore, you should always expect obstacles, path roughness, or authorized vehicles on a tour through the forest and adjust your speed accordingly. Local path closures must be observed by you.
  • As everywhere in road traffic, pedestrians also have priority over cyclists in the forest. Therefore, adjust your speed to the respective situation. In non-visible sections, pedestrians, obstacles or other bikers can appear at any time.
  • You must be able to stop within sight. Only with mutual consideration can there be recreation for all who want to experience and enjoy the forest with all their senses. Please pay special attention to hikers, joggers, riders, skiers, and others
  • As for all those seeking recreation in our forests, the same applies to cyclists: Take your trash with you and put it in the trash can!
  • Did you know that the Saxony Forestry State Enterprise currently maintains more than 3,600 km of forestry paths suitable for cyclists. According to § 11 paragraph 1 of the Saxon Forest Law “... cycling ... is only permitted on roads and paths; cycling is not allowed on sports and educational paths as well as on footpaths.”
  • Help to protect our forests and nature. If you notice hazards, please inform the responsible Saxony Forestry office or the lower forestry authority in the respective district office.
