The Bimmelbahn Adventure Trail combines nature, technology, and Ore Mountain culture in a particularly charming way. The start is in the village of Cranzahl, where a visit to the small but lovingly designed Smoker Museum is worthwhile right at the beginning. A real highlight for fans of Ore Mountain folk art.
The trail runs parallel to the narrow-gauge "Fichtelbergbahn" railway and leads through wide fields, meadows, and shady forests. Always accompanied by the whistle and puffing of the steam locomotive. If you are lucky, you can experience it up close at several points. It also makes a perfect photo motive.
In Neudorf, hikers find the demonstration workshop „Zum Weihrichkarzl“, where traditional incense cones are still handmade. Right opposite, the Soup Museum Neudorf with curious exhibits about soup invites you to linger. Ideal for families or in unsettled weather.
Along the way, several shelters, panoramic views, and rest areas invite you to pause, always with views of the railway track and the gentle hills of the Ore Mountains. The hike ends in the spa town of Oberwiesenthal, Germany's highest town. Here, besides the historic Fichtelbergbahn station, cozy dining options and numerous attractions await.
Those who don't want to walk back can simply board the steam locomotive and be stylishly brought back to Cranzahl - a perfect ending to this special adventure hike.

Directions
- The hike starts at Cranzahl station and follows a continuously marked path along the railway track to Oberwiesenthal. From the station, hikers walk to the main street and keep left there. After a short distance, turn left again. The courtyard path goes through nature past the Unterneudorf stop to Neudorf station. Shortly after the station, keep left on the main street and turn right at the tracks and immediately left again onto "Am Steig." Always follow the tracks again, past Vierenstraße station to Kretscham-Rothensehma station. Here keep right on the main street and left at the forest edge and then immediately right again. At the next intersection, turn right and immediately behind the tracks follow them to the left. Hikers pass Niederschlag station and at a Y-intersection turn right to get to Bärenlohe. Cross the street and walk towards Neudorfer Straße. Keep left here and follow the main street briefly in Hammerunterwiesenthal. Before the station, hike uphill to the right and keep right at the intersection. On the Discovery Trail, turn left and continue following the path until it meets the old post road. In Unterwiesenthal at the station, cross the tracks and continue straight ahead. The tour leads at the entrance to Oberwiesenthal on the main street to the left and shortly after along the tracks to the right to the station.
