Directions
- The approx. 18 km long "Carlsfeld dam circuit" starts at the tourist information office in the town center. The route first leads uphill to the top of the wall of the highest drinking water dam in Germany (Mauerkrone at 905 m above sea level), which is a special experience to cross. The route continues via Carlsfeld-Weitersglashütte to the German-Czech border on the Erzgebirge ridge. At the Hirschenstander Pass (border crossing for cyclists/hikers), a rest area and information boards on the history of the pass provide an ideal place to stop before returning. On the way back, you can decide whether to go all the way around the dam or take the shorter route over the dam wall.
