Safety guidelines
Please observe the following rules in the forest
- Those who follow the Fairplay rules "Forest and Bike" ensure that everyone can enjoy the forest and are always welcome visitors to the forest.
- Stay on the paths and make sure nature is not damaged by your wheels!
- Leave the forest in time before dusk to avoid disturbing animals while they feed.
- Do not leave any traces. Do not brake with locked wheels. Not every path can tolerate every braking maneuver; otherwise, damage may occur on our paths. Note that gravel surfaces on forest paths also lead to longer braking distances.
- Ride carefully, as forest paths are private forestry roads! Forest paths have several functions. Besides recreation, they primarily serve forestry operations. All forest timber is transported over these access roads to public roads. Therefore, on a forest tour, always expect obstacles, uneven paths, or authorized vehicles and adjust your speed accordingly. Local path closures must be strictly observed by you.
- As everywhere in road traffic, pedestrians have priority over cyclists in the forest. Adjust your speed to the situation. In blind spots, pedestrians, obstacles, or other bikers may suddenly appear.
- You must be able to stop within sight distance. Only with mutual consideration can everyone enjoy the forest with all their senses. Pay special attention to hikers, joggers, riders, cross-country skiers, and others.
- As for all who seek recreation in our forests, the same applies to cyclists: Take your trash with you and dispose of it in bins!
- Did you know that the Sachsenforst state enterprise currently maintains more than 3,600 km of forest roads suitable for cyclists? According to § 11 paragraph 1 of the Saxon Forest Law, "... cycling is only permitted on roads and paths. Cycling is not allowed on sports and educational paths or on footpaths."
- Help protect our forests and nature. If you notice any hazards, please inform the responsible Sachsenforst office or the lower forestry authority in the respective district office.
