Scenic circular cycling route along the Mulde from Grimma and its districts to Wurzen and back.

The Saxon Burgenland is known for its extraordinary cultural and natural landscape. Along the Mulde cycle path lie historic town centers as well as sturdy castles, impressive palaces, and worthwhile museums. As in fast forward, a cycling trip around Grimma offers an experience of 1,000 years of Saxon history. Three special mills around Höfgen provide insight into the almost forgotten milling technology. The Water Mill Museum with the overshot water wheel, the ship mill as the last of its kind in Germany, and the post mill in nearby Schkorditz.

Directions

From the starting point, you cycle via Naundorf and Schkorditz to Kaditzsch, Neunitz, and Döben. In Döben, you reach the Muldentalbahn cycle path which leads directly to Wurzen. In Wurzen's town center, you encounter rich architecture. All important sights are explored on a walking tour following the footsteps of Joachim Ringelnatz. From Wurzen, the Muldental cycle path leads you directly back to Grimma. After Bahren, follow Bahrener Straße and turn left into Wedniger Straße to reach the Göschenhaus. At the Göschenhaus, descend the Fünfhäuserweg back onto the Muldental cycle path in Grimma's well-preserved old town center. Here, 450 individual monuments shine in the old town, including the district museum, Grimma Castle, the former princely and regional school, the medieval residential towers, and the impressive town hall. Continuing on the Muldental cycle path, pass Kloster Nimbschen to the ferry. Take the ferry across to Höfgen.
