Directions

At the main entrance of the Fürstlich Greizer Park (265 m above sea level) you walk past the Summer Palace and the Kitchen House, over the air bridge – uphill to the Idahöhe and the viewpoint 100 m away with a view of the „Upper Castle“ – further uphill to the rest area „Devil's Pulpit“ (360 m above sea level) – past the legendary "Klingensteine" (397 m above sea level) – after 3.5 km you reach Amtsreuth (406 m above sea level) – slightly downhill, past Vogelherd, you come to the forest road to Bretmühle – past the Ringelgraben intersection you reach after 2 km the „Lugenberg“ (365 m above sea level) – after 300 m to the forest rest area „Shooting Range“ - at the next intersection of the Bretmühlenweg the EPW turns left in the direction of the legendary Moosgraben – further over the left-sided Hammerberg, after 7.3 km of the day's stage you reach the beautifully located Röschtnitzgrund (245 m above sea level) – 500 m uphill you turn left at the field path fork – and reach Nitschareuth – here a visit to the historic village center with its farmers' museum is recommended - the EPW now leads to the „Amselstein“ (315 m above sea level) – after 600 m downhill you reach the stage destination Neumühle/Elster (245 m above sea level)

You can reach Greiz from the A72 via the Reichenbach exit. Then Reichenbach and Greiz via the B94 and use the public parking lots in the area of Fürstlich Greizer Park.

Public transportation

The starting point Greiz is well accessible by regional express from Erfurt and by Vogtlandbahn from Gera or Plauen/Weischlitz. The Elsterperlenweg can also be perfectly combined with the Vogtlandbahn via the other train stations in the stage towns Neumühle, Berga and Wünschendorf.
