From Hermsdorf station, the route runs together with the Saxon City Route to Medingen. It continues through the Moritzburg small hill landscape, a historically valuable and protected natural area where wooded hills and agriculturally used hollows alternate. The protected landscape offers habitat for a variety of rare plant and animal species. From Bärnsdorf, you travel parallel to the Lößnitzgrund railway to Berbisdorf. There, in the town center, is the water castle from the 16th century. Later you reach Radeburg, the birthplace of the painter Heinrich Zille. The route continues past the Radeburg reservoir, through the Radeburg heath to Würschnitz. On the Heidebogen circular path, you reach the 4,500-hectare forest area of the Laußnitzer Heath. In the landscape protection area, besides the heathland, there are hills, moors, and the actual heath.
After crossing the B 97, you reach the cultural monument Green Column. The granite obelisk was erected in 1832/33 as a boundary marker for the surrounding forestry districts. You follow the marking to Schlägenweg. There, turn right onto the Saxon City Route and the Mountain and Valley Route and reach the town of Seifersdorf with its water castle. This was built on a square island and has been rebuilt several times. Today it appears in the neo-Gothic style according to the plans of the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841).
Via Schönborner street, you descend into the Seifersdorf valley. It was designed by Countess Christina von Brühl and her husband at the end of the 18th century as one of the earliest and most significant romantic park landscapes in Germany. Even today, the partly well-preserved garden scenes with bridges, memorial stones, grottos, busts, temples, mottoes, and dedications can be recognized. Passing the Marien mill with its still functional mill machinery, the route leads to Schönborn, where you turn towards Grünberg and soon reach Hermsdorf Castle with its park. The castle, surrounded by a moat and pond, was built with the involvement of George Bähr from 1730 to 1733. Southeast of the castle, the park enclosed by rubble stone walls follows. It contains, besides baroque geometric forms, also elements of a landscape park in the English style.
