This loop trail is perfect for families and nature lovers. The hike takes you through the spa gardens and past lovingly crafted wooden sculptures in the forest. Fascinating chainsaw carvings are sure to amaze you, and the stop at the Altenberg Adventure Mountain makes the hike especially family-friendly. Thanks to its gentle inclines, the route is ideal for a relaxing, nature-filled outing in the Ore Mountains.
Along the Wooden Sculpture Trail, there’s also a stamp station for the Altenberg Hiking Pass or Children’s Hiking Pass.
Part of the tour is not suitable for strollers. You can find the alternative route in the directions.

Directions
- Start at the Altenberg train station, walk through the spa gardens, and follow Rehefelder Straße. After about 700 m, turn left onto Flemmingweg. This path leads you into the Kahleberg area to an intersection* at a bridge. Now continue straight ahead, toward the stream. At the end of this path, turn left onto the Holzfigurenpfad. Follow this path until the end, where you’ll turn left toward the “Altes Raupennest” forest tavern. Just before you reach it, turn left again, and after another 300 m, turn right onto Alten Zaunhäuser Weg. This path leads you downhill to the Altenberg adventure mountain. Continue to the right. Cross the Raupennesthang (ski slope) and follow the path to the end. Now turn left down the hill and pass the fire station. Cross the B170 and follow the road uphill, then keep left on Rathausstraße. This will take you through the town center back to the starting point.
*This trail is not well-suited for strollers, as it leads over “sticks, stones, and roots.” For the stroller-friendly route, continue across the bridge along Alten Zaunhäuser Weg to the next intersection, then turn left twice in a row.
