Scenically beautiful, moderate route hike from Kätplatz in Annaberg-Buchholz via Mildenau to the spa park in Thermalbad Wiesenbad.

The route is also suitable for occasional hikers and leads mostly on good paths through the beautiful open and hedgerow landscape on both sides of the Pöhlbach/Plattenthal valley. From the valley slopes, hikers are repeatedly offered beautiful views over the Pöhlberg region. For relaxation after the hike, a visit to the Miriquidi thermal bath in Thermalbad Wiesenbad is worthwhile.

The return journey to Annaberg-Buchholz can be made from Thermalbad Wiesenbad by Ore Mountains Railway or by bus.

Hikers in good shape can combine the route with the hike "From Frohnauer Hammer through the Zschopau valley to Thermalbad Wiesenbad" into a day hike and take the return route along the Zschopau valley.

Directions

The hike begins at the central car park (Kätplatz) in Annaberg-Buchholz at the foot of Pöhlberg. After crossing federal road 95 (Robert-Blum-Straße), your path first leads through the city park with animal enclosure and playground. Follow the marking of the European long-distance path E3 (blue-white marking) towards Geyersdorf and Mildenau and shortly after the snack bar "Waldklause" in the city park turn right. After a short climb along the deer fence, turn left and pass Blockhaus and Pöhlberg settlement.

The path now leads along the Old Village Road steeply down from the slope of Pöhlberg through the Annaberg-Buchholz district Geyersdorf into the Pöhlbach valley. After crossing the small bridge over the Pöhlbach, you will meet the state road to Königswalde. Cross the road and follow the path that leads uphill next to the garages to the open-air pool Mildenau.

Continue to follow the E3 long-distance trail and keep left at the next fork. Shortly before the parking lot of the swimming pool, turn left and take the tree-lined path that leads you over Lerchenhübel to Mildenau. In the village you reach Eisenstraße and follow it to the left.

After about 500 meters, you cross state road 218 (Annaberger Straße) and from here follow the Plattenthaler Weg, which you follow to the junction with Wiesenthaler Straße. Turn left here and follow the road. After about 40 meters, turn right onto the path that leads you through the gate of the farm to Wiesenweg.

At Wiesenweg, turn left and follow the road, which bends back out of the village Mildenau towards Streckewalder Straße. Cross the road and take the alley (Schlösserbergweg) entering diagonally opposite. Follow Schlösserbergweg and keep left at the next fork. The path leads you down again into the Pöhlbach valley, which you reach at Paradiesmühle. There, cross the Pöhlbach and after 40 meters turn north onto the path. The path takes you along the bank of the Pöhlbach past the cemetery. After the railway underpass, the path turns left, where shortly after you reach the footbridge over the Zschopau. After crossing the Zschopau, follow the path to the left towards the spa park, the destination of the hike.
