Starting at the church, you hike past the former lime works with the partly preserved kilns. Along the Helsigbach stream, it goes uphill past the first shelter. You go straight ahead, turn left after a short ascent, and reach the second shelter. Follow the green marking towards Thum. Then continue to the animal park. After a short, steep climb to the Bastei, past fascinating rocks, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view. Through the rocky landscape, you hike to the viewpoint at Georgsfelsen and reach the Wettinplatz through an old avenue, the former cemetery of the manor. The path leads along fields, through a small forest area, past a fish pond, and finally turns right downhill to Herold. Along Obere Dorfstraße, you walk to the former narrow-gauge railway station and from there back to the start.

Directions
From the parking lot at the church in Herold, we follow the street course of Zschopauer Straße to the town exit Herold towards the spinning mill (to the northeast). Shortly before the town exit, we turn left onto "Am Kalkwerk." We pass the former lime kilns of the lime works and continue towards the forester houses, but first cross the Helsigbach and follow the yellow marked path uphill until we reach a shelter. We continue straight ahead. After a short ascent past rock formations on the right side, we then keep left and reach the next shelter. From here, we follow the green marking to the left towards Thum. At Plattenstraße, we keep left towards Thum until the Thum/Ziegenbank junction with a beautiful view of the mining town of Thum. From here, we continue to follow the green marking towards Thum. Via the so-called Hahnweg, we reach the town of Thum. At the sports field, we turn left onto Hainstraße. This continues left and becomes Brauhausstraße. Past Neumarkt with the Volkshaus Thum, we turn left onto Rathausplatz. In the summer months, there is a cactus collection and seating in front of the town hall. Right next door is the entrance to the Thum animal park. We follow the street Rathausplatz to Herolder Straße. Here we turn left and after a short distance reach the ascent to the Bastei on the left, marked by a wooden gateway. The yellow marked ascent leads us past Georgstein to the Bastei viewpoint and from there to the Georgsfelsen viewpoint. We follow the yellow marked trail through the forest until we reach an old avenue that leads us to Wettinplatz. This former cemetery of a manor is now marked with a memorial stone. From here we follow the green marked path to the right, which takes us across fields and then through a forest area towards Herold. At the fish pond, we go left along Herolder Weg and after the residential houses turn right to stay on Herolder Weg. At the junction with Obere Dorfstraße, we keep right and follow it along the Wilisch river to Herolder Straße, which we follow left for a few meters to Annaberger Straße. Here is Bahnhofsplatz, a stop in the former Thum narrow-gauge network. Via Bahnhofsplatz path, we come to Am Kraftberg street, which we follow to the left until Drebacher Straße. Here we go left and immediately right again and after a few meters, we are back at the starting point.
