Following in the footsteps of the master builder of Dresden's Frauenkirche, this varied circular hiking trail leads through idyllic Erzgebirge landscapes, tranquil forests and historic sites around Lauenstein. Information boards along the way tell exciting stories from the life of George Bähr and make the tour a successful mix of nature and culture.

Directions

You start at the train station in Lauenstein. Follow Bahnhofstraße to the market and turn right into Teplitzer Straße, follow this until Zschörnelweg turns off to the right. Follow this until you reach the retention basin. There, turn left towards Eiersteig and continue to Talsperrenweg. Continue straight ahead via Brückenweg and Eisenstraße in the direction of Liebenau. Here you walk to the right along the main road to Fürstenwalde. At the old post office column, take the path on the right and walk through the village until the Karl-Xaver-Maximilian-Weg turns off to the left. This leads you to the village street of Unterlöwenhain. Walk straight ahead to the first junction on the right-hand side. Follow this section of the village road until you reach the fork between Schäfereiweg and Graupenweg. Take the Graupenweg. Once in Lauenstein, take Katharinengasse on the left and a little later Berggasse. Arriving at the historic market, the circular tour comes to an end.
