This hike follows a circular route on the Schöneck plateau with only slight elevations from Schöneck to the idyllic Muldenberg reservoir and further over Kottenheide back to Schöneck.

The rustling forests have a calming and decelerating effect in today’s hectic times. The air smells wonderfully fresh, and the view of the calm water of the Muldenberg reservoir is deeply relaxing.

Directions

We start our hike at the Tourist Info at the Hiking and Cross-Country Skiing Center in Schöneck. The path leads us over the recreational area Muldenquelle onto the sandy path in the direction of Muldenberg. Up to the forebay of the Muldenberg reservoir, we follow the blue marking, then we turn left onto the green marked path. This path leads us to Muldenberg. Here, various options for dining are available, the dam can be visited, or the raft area with a small playground.

To continue the hike, we take the same path back but do not turn off to the forebay; instead, we stay on the green marked hiking trail towards Kottenheide. Passing through the village, from the exit of the village we follow the yellow marking, the Kirchsteig, back to Schöneck.
