The Grüner Graben, an artificial moat created for mining as a masterpiece of mining engineering, will be extensively renovated in sections from 2022. The section between the "ehem. Kaffee-Kurt" and the water treading basin at Katzenstein is currently closed.

Directions
From the hiking parking lot in Kühnhaide, OT of Marienberg, follow the ridge trail markings in the direction of Hirtstein. Along the Grüner Graben - an artificial water channel, which was constructed in the 17th century as a mining masterpiece over a length of 8 km and fed water with minimal flow into the Pobershau pits to operate the mining technology - on an idyllic path to the Neubrückenweg. Then leave the Kammweg and continue straight ahead on the E3 along the Grüner Graben until you reach the Kaffee-Kurt (please note: only open from May to October at weekends and on public holidays from 10 am to 5 pm). Then turn right downhill to the main trail (EB marked red) and follow the black Pockau upstream back to the hiking parking lot.
