Directions

The tour starts at the Obermarkt at the Heroldbrunnen fountain and continues to the Neptune fountain at the Untermarkt. Then continue towards the Nikolaiturm tower with its fountain. From here you walk into the Karpfengrund, past a hut and on to the Nikolaizwinger. In the park below the former Vogtshof, there are many flowerbeds and a small water feature to discover.
There are two fountains next to St. Peter's Church: an old water butt stands at the western portal below the twin towers, while the Milk Can Fountain can be found at Waidhausgarten. Less than 100 meters further on, the Bathing Children stand under a small arched ledge.
Walk along Neißstraße and Weberstraße to Bäckerstraße. Here you will find a roofed, medieval bakery. Continue to the fish market and Fischmarktstraße. On Klosterplatz is one of the city's most popular fountains - the Zecherpaar. The Zecherpaar was created by the Görlitz sculptor Gisela Mauermann. A little further on, around the corner behind the Augustum grammar school, there is a second historic fountain on Klosterplatz.

Through Nonnenstraße you finally reach the art fountains Angel and Devil. The two figures were designed by the Dresden artist Veronica von Appen. A ribbon of water on Marienplatz symbolizes the old city moat and invites children to splash around in the warmer months. A highlight is the fountain with the shell minna from Toberenz on Postplatz. The tour ends a little later in Berliner Straße at the fountain "Die Tanzende".

The shortest route takes you via Demianiplatz and Marienplatz through Steinstraße back to Obermarkt.
