Safety guidelines
- The FIS behavior rules for cross-country skiers and the trail regulations of the German Ski Association apply on the Kammloipe.
- Every cross-country skier must behave so as not to endanger or harm others.
- Marking and information signs must be observed. Pedestrians and dogs are not allowed to enter the trail in its full width.
- Running is basically to be done in the right lane - also by groups.
- Overtaking is allowed on the left or right; the lead skier does not need to leave the lane.
- Ski tours must be avoided in darkness and extremely bad weather conditions.
- When resting and taking breaks, the trail must be left.
Please also note some special features of the Kammloipe:- The Kammloipe is a long-distance trail with oncoming traffic; it is consistently prepared with two lanes. Oncoming traffic must not be hindered.
- Medium difficulty (II) and difficult descents (III) are marked on the trail signs with II and III respectively.
- The ridge settlements are sometimes very far apart. Mutual assistance is therefore a matter of course and in emergencies an obligation. The trail is supervised by mountain rescue (emergency call 112) and is equipped with emergency location signs.
- If the trail width is sufficient, skating technique (freestyle) is allowed between the directional lanes; however, these must not be damaged. The following sections are continuously prepared for skating:
- Johanngeorgenstadt - Weitersglashütte
- Parking lot "Am Kielfloßgraben" - Schneckenstein junction Topasfelsen - Skiing in the snowplow position between the lanes is safe.
- The tracks must not be damaged when skating.
