The Kammweg leads directly past the mountain church in Seiffen. The octagonal structure of the mountain church is strongly reminiscent of the Frauenkirche in Dresden. It is worth taking a look inside. It's hard to believe that this small church can seat almost 500 people. We walk further up to the ski lift. After a steep ascent, we reach the Wettinhöhe through a hollow in the valley. Thank goodness there is a wonderful rest area at the top. For the next three kilometers, we hike comfortably through mixed forest. The view widens and we come to the small cemetery in Hirschberg. We follow the asphalt road downhill until we cross the Flöha. Then a bit of fitness is required. On the other side of the road, the Kammweg leads steeply uphill to the Zechenweg. After a large loop in the coniferous forest, we reach the mountain church in Oberneuschönberg, high above the Flöha valley. The foundation stone for this massive church was laid in 1692 and it is still very well preserved today. Soon the last treasure awaits - perhaps the most impressive for today. The "Saigerhütte" museum complex is the only one of its kind in the world. The name comes from Saigern, a revolutionary smelting process at the time for desilvering raw copper. The ensemble comprises over 20 historic buildings. Now you are spoiled for choice. There is a lot to experience and marvel at here!

From the start at the famous Seiffen round church, we gradually walk up the road to Reicheltberg. On the way, so-called milestones and a wooden portal of the "Blockline" provide photo opportunities. After crossing the ski slope, we follow the meadow and forest path to Mittelweg. Meanwhile, there is a fantastic view of the toy village and the Schwartenberg.
Continue along the Mühlenweg along the edge of the forest and past a mountain meadow until you reach a crossroads with a hiking sign. Turning towards the main road, we first cross the village stream and then the road a few meters further on. There, a natural path climbs up through the forest to the edge of the forest at the Spitzberg crossroads.
In the direction of Olbernhau, the route continues for three kilometers via Sielenweg, Ringelweg and Wettinweg through varied mixed forest. When the forest opens up, we can enjoy a magnificent view down into the Olbernhau basin and to the ridge of the Ore Mountains on the Czech side. In Hirschberg, the trail joins the asphalted Sachsenweg. Here we continue towards Olbernhau, which is also known as the town of seven valleys. Take care when crossing the road connecting Olbernhau and Seiffen! Keeping to the right, we cross the Flöha and reach the hikers' parking lot.
A good level of fitness is now required, as the ridge trail climbs up to the Zechenweg. Now we continue uphill above Oberneuschönberg along the Tiefen Graben through coniferous forest. The Gnade-Gottes-Erbstolln is located nearby. If you like, you can take a look at this mining testimony worth seeing. Along the legendary "Der Hüttenmatths" trail and past lush pastures, the ridge trail leads us along the Kirchweg past the mountain church to Grünthal and the Saigerhütte, a museum complex of non-ferrous metallurgy that is unique in Europe. The smelter was founded in 1537 to desilver raw copper using the Saiger process. For centuries, the multi-stage smelting process was regarded as the pinnacle of metallurgy. Grünthal roof copper was particularly sought-after, adorning over 400 buildings in Europe, such as the Frauenkirche in Dresden, Ulm Minster and St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. The museum-like Saigerhüttenareal is home to the copper hammer, exhibitions, show workshops, Stockhausen - the living toy land for children, the smelting pond, mining nature trail, hotel and restaurants. The stage ends here. You can round off the day with a cultural stroll along the historic paths of the Olbernhauer Reiterlein and the Theater Variabel.
