Many successful winter sports athletes come from Oberwiesenthal, such as Sylke Otto and Jens Weißflog. The ridge trail leads past the ski arena through the forest. Again and again we cross the circuit for the roller skiers. Mutual respect ensures accident-free outdoor fun for both sides. Now we come across the Anton Günther Trail. It runs for 57 km through Saxony and the north-west of the Czech Republic. We follow parts of it from time to time. After the first houses in Tellerhäuser, we descend into the Pöhlwassertal valley to the Wettinbrunnen fountain with its refuge and Anton Günther memorial stone. Here we take a break from hiking. What is your favorite snack? Liverwurst, minced pork or egg buns? Our TIP: Always pack a "Bemme" (sandwich, slice, sandwich) as there is not a refreshment stop on every stage of the Kammweg. Well fortified, we reach Ehrenzipfel. The border with the Czech Republic is very close here - we only have to cross the stream once. We march uphill towards Rittersgrün, which is often described as a picture-book village. The Saxon Narrow Gauge Railway Museum, which railroad enthusiasts have spent years creating, is well worth a visit.

Directions
Starting from the Fichtelberg summit plateau, the ridge trail leads slowly downhill in a straight line and open to the "Wellenschaukel" trail to the cross-country ski trail gate. Athletes and active vacationers meet here at the ski stadium, the entrance to the cross-country ski trail network in winter. Following the markings into the forest, we reach the Bächelhütte rest area with information boards. From Tellerhäuser Straße, we initially follow the Börnerweg trail. This leads us past the Börnerwiese nature reserve, the border crossing for pedestrians, original shelters and the sports field in Tellerhäuser.
Between the border and the road, we take a leisurely walk along the Klingerbachweg along the babbling Grenzbach stream to the Zweibach group of houses. On the Anton-Günther-Weg to the Ehrenzipfel settlement, the attractive Wettinplatz invites you to take a break. With the dominant Wettin fountain, which commemorates the 800th anniversary of the Saxon Wettin dynasty, a memorial stone to the Erzgebirge singer and local poet Anton Günther and the mouth of the Fuchsloch tunnel, Wettinplatz brings together the traditions of the region. The mine tunnel can be visited on request. Song boards along the way invite you to sing a well-known song by Anton Günther.
At Pöhlwasser in Rittersgrün, where the border crossing to the Czech Republic is located, we cross Tellerhäuser Straße. We reach the refuge via the Reitsteig trail. We recommend taking a short break there and enjoying the fantastic view of the mountain village of Rittersgrün. A few meters back again, we head downhill on a challenging path (be careful in wet conditions! - Alternatively, take the longer path marked "Alternative Kamm" past the natural swimming pool to the Kammweg connection on the Zollstraße). The end of the stage is reached at the river Pöhlwasser ander Zollstraße. If you don't want to miss out on the Saxon Narrow Gauge Railway Museum, take a detour to the disused Rittersgrün station.
