A circular trail of approx. 7 km in length leads around the 794 m high Kuhberg. Access is possible from the Kuhberg parking lot in Stützengrün, from the sports field in Wernesgrün and from the forest stadium in Schönheide. The circular trail is challenging and has some steep climbs.

Safety guidelines

Safety instructions

The FIS rules of conduct for cross-country skiers and the trail regulations of the German Ski Association apply on the trail.

  • All cross-country skiers must behave in such a way that they do not endanger or harm others.
  • Marking and information signs must be observed. Pedestrians and dogs may not enter the entire width of the cross-country ski trail.
  • You must always ski in the right-hand lane - even in groups.
  • Overtaking is permitted on the left or right; the skier in front does not need to leave the track.
  • Ski tours are not to be undertaken in the dark or in extremely poor weather conditions.
  • The trail must be left when resting and catching your breath.

Please note:

Mutual assistance is a matter of course and is also mandatory in emergencies. The cross-country ski trail is supervised by the mountain rescue service (emergency call 112).

If the trail is wide enough, freestyle technique (skating) is permitted between the directional tracks; however, these must not be destroyed.

It is safe to ski between the directional tracks in plow position.

The tracks must not be damaged when skating.
